Right now, I’m working as a Senior Maths Teacher at a British school in the UAE, where I teach students across different levels. Before this, I spent about 3 years teaching PYP students at an IB school in Hyderabad, India. As a math tutor, I usually start by quickly seeing what exactly the student is struggling with. Sometimes it’s just the concept, and sometimes it’s the way the question is asked in the exam. I like to start from the basic idea first, because once the child understands that, the rest becomes much easier. When I explain, I go step by step. I have a Master’s in Telecommunication Engineering, where a lot of the work involved Maths, especially in areas like signal processing. I’ve also taught Master's students of Telecommunication Engineering at the Institute of Communication Technologies, PTCL, before, where most of the teaching was based on mathematical concepts and problem-solving.
When I start with a student, I usually just check how they’re thinking first. I’ll give a simple question and see how they try it. From there, it becomes easier to understand what’s missing. While teaching, I don’t really stick to one fixed method. I don’t rush through topics. If something is not clear, we just stay on it until the student actually understands. In online classes, I write and explain at the same time so the student can follow each step properly.
