I have been lucky to travel a lot, going to temples, monasteries, and shrines in Asia. This has helped me learn more and gather experiences to tell my students about. I have been happy to help many young people understand the complex ideas and practices of these old religions, showing them a glimpse of a world that is very different from ours.
I like to connect Eastern philosophies to our everyday lives when I teach. I compare old teachings to show how they can still be helpful in today's fast world. I believe in learning by doing, so I like to have discussions, group activities, and hands-on projects in my lessons. I use pictures, videos, and sometimes quiet thinking time to help my students truly feel and understand Eastern spirituality, instead of just memorizing information.
